The Indian Air Force has begun the operational phase of Exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 at Air Force Station Jodhpur following the inaugural ceremony held a day earlier. The multilateral air exercise is being conducted from September 26 to October 12, 2026, under the theme "Power in Partnership." The exercise focuses on cooperation, sharing expertise and improving interoperability among participating air forces. Seven friendly foreign countries are participating in the exercise: Australia, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The participating foreign aircraft include the F-35 Lightning II, Rafale, F-16, A400M, MRTT, C-130, C-130J and KC-30A, covering combat, airlift and air-to-air refuelling roles. Forces from 32 additional friendly nations are also participating as observers. The exercise places special emphasis on mission planning, operational procedures, aerospace safety and joint operations under different scenarios. The programme also includes tactical seminars, industrial tours of India's indigenous defence ecosystem, the Sekhon Marathon, heritage tours and yoga sessions. Tarang Shakti is a biennial exercise. Its first edition was held from August 6 to September 14, 2024, with an estimated 150 aircraft participating. The 2026 edition focuses on strengthening defence cooperation and interoperability among participating nations.
